Dear Aerial Athletics families,

We hope you are having a safe and blessed holiday weekend! We appreciate your support last week while we followed the Mayor’s request to “Stay Home” and social distance. We know this virus will be with us for some time so we have used this week to deep clean and work as a staff to make sure all our gym protocols are in place.

We want to update you on our gym reopening this week. There will be some changes that all our gym families and students need to follow:

  • Masks and Face Coverings: All individuals (ages 10 years old and up) MUST wear a mask/face covering to enter and exit the gyms. Athletes will be able to remove their masks once their class or team practice begins.
  • Mandatory temperature checks for all individuals entering the facility. Plus, separate entrances and exits will be continued to be followed
  • We will reopen our recreational classes for ages 6 years old and up this week. These classes will continue to follow all COVID-19 protocols, such as social distancing, hand sanitizing, between rotations, equipment cleaning between rotations, and instructors wearing masks at all times. If your child is currently enrolled in a class and you are not quite ready to return to the gym, please reply to this email with your child’s information and we will place a class make-up token on your gym account.
  • Summer Adventures will be offered only at the Schertz gym this summer
  • Competitive Teams: Team directors have emailed all team families with schedules and information about this week’s practice times, etc. Please reply to this email if you did not receive that information.

Please remember that if you, your child, or any family member is not feeling well or showing any symptoms of the virus, please do not come to the gym. If you think you, your child, or any family member has been exposed to the virus, we ask that you adhere to the 14-day quarantine period recommended by the CDC.

Again, we are so grateful for our gym families support through this challenging time. We know we are conservative in our approach to this virus but every decision we have and will make has been based on many conversations with local health professionals and city officials. Our number one goal is to keep our students, families, and staff safe. This will continue to be our approach and mission throughout this pandemic.

Stay Safe,

Dear Aerial Athletics families,

We will plan on opening with Phase 1 (see below for more information on our phases for reopening) on June 1st. We have been working hard to get our gyms cleaned, sanitized, remodeled, and ready for our gym families. We are looking forward to showing you all our improvements and safety protocols to keep our gym families safe. We appreciate each one of you!

We are also to have a cleaning system and a series of protocols in place that will go above the industry standards. All three facilities have been cleaned, repainted, and reorganized to meet our new guidelines and safety protocols. Each facility and all equipment will be commercially cleaned seven days per week. The gyms will be sanitized by a CDC and hospital-grade fogging disinfecting service the weekend before our reopening. This unique disinfecting process kills 99.9% of all bacteria and viruses for up to 3 months. We will have this service repeated every 8-weeks. Also, each facility will be updated with handless hand sanitizers and soap dispensers.

Aerial Athletics normally operates on a 5-hour window daily, but with mandated school closure, we will have the ability to work in a 12-hour window to practice social distancing. We can significantly limit the number of people in the building and meet the recommended 6 feet for social distancing.

As I stated, we will be opening the gym in phases. Here are the steps:

Phase One:

  • Competitive Teams return to practice with limited times and days, smaller groups and supplemented with virtual classes
  • Recreational classes for children ages six and up (limited class schedule)
  • Private lessons and semi-private lessons will be offered for all students
  • Virtual classes for all recreational students
  • Virtual Birthday parties

Phase Two:

  • Recreational classes for children ages five and over
  • Summer Adventures program for full-day and half-day options with an 8:1 student to instructor ratio
  • Team training hours will increase
  •  Virtual Classes offered for both recreational and competitive programs continue
  • Virtual Birthday parties

Phase Three:

  • Recreational classes for children four and under
  • Additional recreational classes will be offered
  • Birthday parties & Parents’ Night Out events will be held at the gyms
  • Virtual Classes offered for both recreational and competitive programs continue

The health and safety of our students, families, and staff are our number one priorities. I want to share a few of the many things we have done and will be implementing to reach our goal:

  • Recreational classes and team practices will be restructured to accommodate the student to instructor ratio. These ratios will be mandatory in Phase 1 and Phase 2. We will reassess if we use these reduced ratios in Phase 3. Reduced student-instructor ratios:
    • Preschool classes (ages four and under): 4:1
    • Recreational classes (ages five and up): 6:1
    • Competitive teams: 8:1
  • Aerial Athletics will uphold the student to square-footage ratio at all times - No more than five students per 1,000 square feet during Phase 1 and Phase 2. We will reassess in Phase 3.
  • Organized class structure and lesson plans to maintain 6 feet of physical separation.
  • Children will maintain their own training spaces with no waiting in lines. This spacing will be achieved by velcro floor markers that will provide for establishing distancing.
  • Classes and team practices will have staggered start and end times for classes
  • New check-in and check-out procedures for all students and families
    • When entering the gym, all students and parents will have their temperature recorded with a touchless thermometer. Anyone with symptoms will not be able to enter the building.
    • Students will only be allowed to enter the gym with one adult guardian
    • Siblings (over two years old) will not be allowed to enter the building unless attending a class
    • When leaving the gyms, staff Members will line students up at the exit of the building, using the floor markers for space-distancing. Hand sanitizer will be distributed upon their departure, and students will exit the building one at a time. The exit will not be the same as the entrance.
  • All staff will be required to have their temperature taken before they enter the gym. They will also have their temperature taken every 2 hours and recorded. No staff member with a fever and/or COVID-19 symptoms will be allowed to enter the gym.
  • For the health and safety of our students and staff, a new observation area policy will be introduced in stages
  • Plexiglass “sneeze” shields will be installed in all reception areas for staff and customer safety
  • Student and staff mandatory hand sanitizing stations are installed in all areas of the facility. We will be using the CDC suggested and approved formula.
  • Touchless soap dispensers in all bathrooms
  • All entry surfaces prior to and after each class will be sanitized with EPA registered cleaner
  • Aerial Athletics Staff will be cleaning equipment between rotations and all classes in all areas of the gym
  • No hands-on spotting during the first and second phases
  • Chalk buckets will be removed from the gyms. All students will have the option to purchase a block of chalk to be placed in a provided, personal sanitized plastic container. These containers will be labeled and stored at the gym.
  • All recreational students will be required to bring in their own labeled water bottles. These water bottles will be placed in assigned areas during the class. These areas will be sanitized between all classes. No water fountains will be available.
  • All competitive team students will bring their own backpack to be used as a personal locker. A list of items needed will be sent out to all competitive team members. These will be carried with the athletes as they rotate to each event. There will be no more group areas, such as team locker rooms and cubbies. These areas will be closed and not be accessible.

We have updated many of our gym policies, so customers will need to acknowledge and accept these new policies via the iClass Parent Portal before students can return. We will be sending out another email to our customers by May 11th with the next update. Also, this week we will be sending out a short online survey to our gym families so I can better plan for our reopening. Your response will be necessary for our reopening plan, so thank you in advance.

We are missing our gym families, and we look forward to welcoming you back when the time is right. Stay safe!
